Day 8
Change can be scary. Last week I watched a movie called “When Love is Not Enough.” It was the story of Lois Wilson, who founded Al Anon, a support group for friends and family members of addicts. Her husband Bill Wilson was one of the founders of Alcoholic Anonymous.
Prior to his recovery the Wilsons moved from place to place. After he recovered he still struggled to make ends meet after years of being unable to hold a job. For a while the pair was homeless.
Though she spent years praying for her husband to overcome and be released from his addiction, when at last he was, she was disappointed. The answer did not look like she expected. His recovery brought changes she never imagined. To embrace the answer to her prayers she had to overcome her fears, come out of hiding, ask for help, and surrender. As a result, she reached out to others, found trust, and formed a program that has changed 1000s of lives for the better.
No matter where she went or how much she struggled, she was never alone.
Verse:Joshua 1:9 Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
Word for This Week:
Surrender
Today I will rest in the silence knowing that the greatest surrender is surrendering even how the answer looks knowing that where ever I am, God is, and all is well.
