Day 9

We all have times when we feel afraid. Fear can even be healthy when we are in immediate danger. Instinctual fear triggers the flight or fight mechanism that kept our ancestors from being eaten by lions, tigers, and bears. It keeps us from standing in front of moving vehicles. There is beneficial learned fear as well. Most of us learn pretty quickly to move back from extreme heat, protect ourselves from extreme cold, and not to stand out in the rain while lightning strikes all around us. There is even the intuitive fear that says we have to try something new because what we have been doing so far is never going to work that can inspire wonderful change.

It is part of the human experience to deal with fear. I think that may be why there are so many verses in the Bible that talk about fear collected in the Bible.

Verse:Psalm 6:3 When I am afraid, I will trust in you.

Word for This Week:
Trust

Today I will sit in silence and feel the power of trust surrounding me.
