Week 22
We all want to be happy, don’t we? Sometimes being happy is easy and sometimes happiness seems illusive. It is interesting that the Bible does not say much about happiness. There are only six verses in the NIV Bible that use the word happiness and they all relate happiness as the reward for proper service to others and to God.
I wonder if happiness is harder to find when we make happiness about what we have and not about what we can do for others? Does happiness go away when we focus on ourselves? Does happiness become illusive when we set aside trust that God provides and we become afraid we do not have enough?
What is enough? How do you define happiness?
Verse for This Week
Psalms 56:11
In God I trust; I will not be afraid. . .
Word
Happy
As I go into the silence today, I will recognize that whatever I have today is enough to be of service to someone. I will feel what it is to be happy.
