 Week 25
I was thinking this morning about a movie I saw a long time ago, Children of a Lesser God. The heroine was played by Marley Matlin, a deaf actress, playing a deaf person in a movie about being deaf in a hearing world. Of course there is no lesser God. We are all children of the same God. We are have equal access to Spirit. What ever our issues, flaws, and challenges might be, we are all equal. No one gets more or less grace than another and no situation is hopeless.

In Mark 5 Jairus has come to Jesus to heal his daughter. Before he can make his request, men come from his house to say it is too late, but Jesus tells Jairus to believe. It would have been logical and reasonable for Jairus to give up at that point. Instead he has unreasonable faith and he takes the first step. He leads Jesus to his house despite the opinions of others who think the situation is hopeless.  There Jesus steals the girl from the grip of death.

There are times in life when people warn us to be reasonable in our expectations. They tell us we are limited and we should not hope for what we cannot have. In those times we are called to have unreasonable, unlimited faith that what is right and perfect for us is attainable.  We have to stand up and believe, then take the first step.

Verse for This Week
Mark 5:36
Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, "Don't be afraid; just believe."

Word Hope

Today I will let hope wash over me and feel what it is to be unreasonably trusting in faith as I sit in silence remembering that the Spirit of God is always with me; within and without.
